In Loving Memory of Candace B Lish

Candace B Lish (born Candace Tracy Blake), 67 of Delta, Utah, passed away on Friday 10 July of natural causes at her home. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her passing is a great loss, and we immensely miss her presence in our lives.

Born on 17 October 1958 to Benjiman Royal and Theo (Asay) Blake, Candace was raised in her hometown of Cedar City, where she enjoyed fishing, hunting, and capturing and breaking mustangs with her father. She was a daddy’s girl who cherished every moment she had with her parents. After attending school in Cedar City and Salt Lake City, Candace studied accounting at Dixie State College in St. George and Southern Utah State College in Cedar City.

Candace had many interests and passions, including nature, language, pets, challenging word and math puzzles, cooking and cake decorating, music (especially rock and roll of many varieties), films, books, art (especially from local artists), tinkering with electronics, and deepening her already significant knowledge.

Candace had several careers, including radio traffic management, auto mechanics and auto body work, manufacturing, human resources, retail, banking, and carpet installation and repair. She was a perfectionist who obsessed over doing everything to the best of her ability, always striving to improve those abilities and struggling to be the best she could be.

She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with a strong sense of fairness and integrity. As a new grandma, she named herself Grandma Grump, but she was such a kind grandmother who loved spending time with the kids, from playing games on the floor with the grandkids to making elaborate, beautiful cakes for everyone’s birthday. She had a special knack for making anyone in her presence feel cared about and important. She will be remembered for her warm heart and friendly smile.

In 1989, Candace met and, later that year, married Erich John Lish in Cedar City. They moved to Sutherland, Utah in 2004 and later to Delta in 2019 and have resided there since. They were sealed for eternity in the Manti, Utah Temple on Valentine’s Day of 2014. Candace was an amazing wife and, most importantly, a wonderful companion.

When her children’s friends and partners needed a place to stay after being expelled from their family homes, Candace invited them to stay without hesitation. She instilled strong values in her children: kindness, passion, grace, and compassion, among many others.

This fierce and beautiful soul was preceded in death by Ben (father), Theo (mother), Benny (brother), Yvonne (sister), Kathy (sister), and Brenda (sister). She is survived by her husband and three beautiful children and their spouses, Heather Sue May (Cook) and husband John May, Christopher John Lish and husband Brian McCarrey, and Melissa Blair Lovell (Lish) and husband Tony Lovell. She is survived by several grandchildren and a great-grandson.
